WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Champion Autism Network is coming to an end after a decade of serving the community.

The organization made the announcement about the nonprofit closing on Monday.

Becky Large founded the nonprofit on a mission to spread awareness of autism and create an inclusive and welcoming community for individuals and families with autism in the Grand Strand.

Through training, organizing sensory-friendly spaces and activities for the community, and partnering with local businesses, the organization has worked to accomplish its goal.

The organization brought many milestones to the area, including Surfside Beach becoming the first certified autism-friendly travel destination in the world and Myrtle Beach becoming a leading autism-friendly destination.

“I knew making the announcement would be difficult, and it’s been kind of wonderful because I do look back and I do see all that we’ve accomplished in 10 years, and it’s amazing, it truly is,” said Large.
