‘War zone’: 80+ spent rounds found after shots fired into Marlboro County homes

WMBF News reports that MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Deputies are investigating after more than shots were fired in the Bennettsville area.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office announced in a release shortly before 10 a.m.

Tuesday that shots were fired on Choctaw Lane and Ellison Street.

Authorities said multiple rounds struck the homes and damaged vehicles, but no one was hit.

Investigators collected more than 80 shell casings from the two scenes.

The sheriff’s office said that the scene resembled a war zone, adding that “there is no justification for such reckless and cowardly behavior.” The sheriff’s office said the homes were occupied at the time, including one with a child inside.
