WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Two technology companies have received first-reading approval from the Myrtle Beach City Council to move into office spaces in the Arts and Innovation District.
The approvals, passed at Tuesday’s city council meeting, include technology company Cocoflo and language translation company TransPerfect.
Cocoflo, which has been operating in the HTC Aspire Hub along 9th Avenue while helping the city’s Parks and Recreation Department with software technology, is expanding into a larger space as the business grows.
“So naturally with that growth we’re going to need some more support, and so the office is going to be a real mixture of team members from engineering to product to customer success and implementation teams,” said Cocoflo founder and CEO Bernie Florido.
Florido said the company is building out its core team with a mixture of functions to support growth over the coming months.
City leaders say businesses like Cocoflo and TransPerfect are key to diversifying Myrtle Beach’s economy and creating employment opportunities outside the tourism and hospitality sectors.
