WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An 18-year-old originally charged as a minor in a 2024 Horry County homicide is now facing adult murder charges after authorities said she tried to escape custody.
The Horry County Sheriff’s Office booked Nashyiah Vereen on a murder charge Friday, jail records show.
Horry County police spokesperson Ashley Boles said Vereen was 16 when the agency first charged her in the 2024 homicide; at the time, she was processed as a minor.
After the escape attempt, Boles said a court moved Vereen’s case to adult court.
Vereen is accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Daquan Wright on Nov.
7, 2024, at a home on Fowler Road in the Conway area, according to an arrest warrant.
