WMBF News reports that SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Fire crews said a man was placed in custody after a rescue on Friday.
The Surfside Beach Fire Department said they were called to the pier after a person refused to follow the return orders from lifeguards and the Surfside Beach Police Department.
The agency said it deployed two jet skis, a swimmer, as well as 3 lifeguards out beyond the pier.
According to authorities, the swimmer was hostile, combative and attempted to hit fire crews.
Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Department assisted.
Surfside Fire said that after he became tired, they returned him to shore and placed him into police custody.
