WMBF News reports that COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF/WIS) - Kevin Schnall is now officially the leader of the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team.

WIS News reported on Tuesday that sources confirmed Schnall as the head baseball coach at South Carolina.

Rick Henry, WIS’ sports director, reported Wednesday that the USC Board of Trustees approved Schnall’s five-year contract with the team.

Schnall heads to Columbia on a five-year, roughly $7 million deal that includes incentives, with a base salary of $1.3 million in his first season.

In his first season leading Coastal Carolina in 2025, taking over for longtime coach Gary Gilmore, Schnall guided the Chanticleers to 56 wins and earned Baseball America’s College Coach of the Year honors, becoming the first first-year coach to win the award.

Coastal Carolina reached the Men’s College World Series final in 2025 for the first time since 2016, but fell short against LSU.
