WMBF News reports that MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Education has appointed the candidate the Marlboro County School Board passed over as the district’s new superintendent.

Elizabeth McDonald has been appointed superintendent of the Marlboro County School District.

McDonald currently serves as assistant superintendent of elementary instruction in Oconee County, overseeing ten elementary schools.

She began her career as a classroom teacher, earning Teacher of the Year honors at Manning High School in Clarendon County, and holds a Ph.D.

“As I begin this work, my first priority is listening,” McDonald said.

“Marlboro County has talented educators, supportive families, and tremendous potential.
