WMBF News reports that (WIS) - A Richland County man was arrested Friday after allegedly sending threats to a state lawmaker through the mail.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said 57-year-old Dewayne Simmons is charged with threatening the life of a public official.

Simmons was arrested on Friday and booked at the Alvin S.

WIS confirmed Friday that the victim in the case is state Rep.

Seth Rose, a Democrat representing part of Richland County.

Warrants released by SLED claim Simmons sent Rose threatening letters earlier this year, between February and April.
