WMBF News reports that Paul AME Church in Irmo held a celebration of life Saturday for the Rev.
Bouie, a Columbia native and key figure in the early days of the civil rights movement.
Bouie passed away on June 15 at age 86.
Bouie’s family invited friends, clergy, civic leaders, fraternity brothers, former parishioners, and community members to join them in celebrating his life and legacy.
A wake was held on Friday at Palmer Memorial Chapel.
Leaders from the Midlands, across South Carolina, and beyond gathered at the service to reflect on his impact.
