Primary results: Key races decided across the Grand Strand and Pee Dee

WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Voters across the Pee Dee and Grand Strand weighed in during Tuesday’s South Carolina primaries, with several local school board and county council races decided.

Melanie Wellons won the Horry County Schools Board of Education chair race with 21,724 votes (59.8%), defeating Darrell Ricketts, who received 14,594 (40.2%).

Meredith Kennedy won the Horry County school board District 2 race with 2,233 votes (68.4%), ahead of Thomas Vaughn with 1,032 (31.6%).

In District 3, Tracy Winters won with 1,428 votes (52%).

JD Davis received 879 (32%), and David Frierson had 441 (16%).

Jason Morgan won the Horry County school board district 10 race with 1,403 votes (38.9%), followed by Stephen Whisnant with 1,228 (34.1%) and David Warner with 972 (27%).
