WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Police have clarified the regulations in a recently adopted ordinance involving electric transportation methods.
Horry County Council adopted the ordinance last month.
The ordinance aims to regulate personal electric devices, also known as PEDs.
These devices are no longer allowed to be driven on roads with a speed limit higher than 20 mph, on public sidewalks, or on county-owned property.
According to the ordinance, a PED is an “electric-powered seated device.” These devices do not include common transportation methods such as golf carts, mopeds, e-bikes, bicycles with motors, electric standing scooters, and mobility scooters.
Some people on social media expressed confusion about what specific device would be regulated.
