Pawleys Island wins best beach in South Carolina for third year in a row

WMBF News reports that GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Several beaches in South Carolina have gained national attention.

According to the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce, Pawleys Island has been named Best Beach in South Carolina for the third year in a row.

“Situated on South Carolina’s Hammock Coast, beach access abounds across the shores of Pawleys Island, a tiny town located on the eastern edge of Georgetown County,” said USA Today.

“While the community is home to just over 100 residents, the population swells in the warm months, when beachgoers arrive to enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and surfing.” Pawleys competed against 16 other South Carolina beaches for the title.

Huntington Beach State Park and Litchfield Beach also made the Top 10 final list for the online contest by USA Today/10 Best.

“We are so proud that three of our pristine, beautiful beaches here on the Hammock Coast are once again ranking as some of the best in South Carolina,” said Mark A.
