WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - New reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol are shedding light on the arrest of a man charged in a deadly Horry County crash.
John Maness, 69, is charged with felony driving under the influence, resulting in death.
After the crash, troopers found inside Maness’ Jeep a liquor bottle with the seal broken near a cooler toward the rear of the Jeep, which was upside down, according to one of several reports WMBF News received Thursday.
Another bottle with the seal intact was also found.
One trooper interviewed Maness in the hospital and said he spoke clearly, with the trooper not detecting the smell of alcohol.
Maness told the trooper he did not remember what happened.
