WMBF News reports that NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - North Myrtle Beach is asking residents to voluntarily conserve water as the Grand Strand faces extreme drought conditions.
The city says the restrictions are not mandatory but recommends community cooperation to protect water resources.
Officials are asking people to limit unnecessary water use, reduce outdoor watering and irrigation, adjust watering times to avoid the hottest parts of the day, and check for leaks and repair them promptly.
The city also recommends eliminating irrigation on Mondays and adjusting irrigation times, including avoiding the 6 to 9 a.m.
The city is asking residents to follow a voluntary irrigation schedule: even-numbered addresses water on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and odd-numbered addresses water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Roy Bell, a North Myrtle Beach resident, said lawns can wait.
