WMBF News reports that (WBTV) - A group of teens from around North Carolina has partnered with advocacy groups to pressure state lawmakers to increase the sale age of tobacco products to 21, in line with federal law.
That group includes two Charlotte teens, Denise Gonzalez and Pranika Senthil.
Their interest in public health and alarm over vaping among their peers prompted them to get involved in the mission.
“I’ve walked through school parking lots and I see disposable vapes, boxes of zin on the ground,” Senthil said.
Gonzalez has an extended family member in middle school who told her recently he wanted to try vaping because his friends were doing it.
