WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach City Council approved a funding plan for a multi-million dollar expansion of the Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA.
The expansion plans include an all-day preschool, a teen center, and an adult center.
The organization also plans to create a multi-use space for social gatherings and add a new fitness area.
“I think that it will be a wonderful expansion,” said Patty Laggis, a YMCA member.
“Membership has grown as far as I can see multiple times since I joined three years ago.” The Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA serves thousands of people each year through its programs.
Chief Development Officer Hatton Gravely said the expansion is needed as the Grand Strand grows.
