WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - With the Fourth of July about a week away, a Myrtle Beach fire official is urging residents to follow safety guidelines before lighting fireworks at home.
Jon Evans with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department said the most important step is knowing the local rules for setting off fireworks.
In Myrtle Beach, residents may only set off fireworks until 10 p.m., Evans said.
On the Fourth of July, that cutoff is extended to just past midnight.
Evans said fireworks may only be used on residential property.
Commercial properties and public spaces, including beach areas, are off-limits.
