Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District looks to grow after earning first CAAS accreditation

WMBF News reports that MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - A Grand Strand fire district is planning to expand after reaching a new milestone.

The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire District has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services after earning a perfect score on its evaluation, making it the first fire agency in both North and South Carolina to earn the designation and the first in Horry County overall.

EMS Division Chief David Elliott said the recognition belongs to the district’s frontline staff.

“The credit that goes to the field personnel, the ones that are out there at 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., sweating on days like today, freezing in the winter, lifting heavy patients, all of the credit goes to our personnel in the field,” Elliott said.

Elliott said residents can have confidence in the district’s readiness.

“They should be assured that our personnel are professional, well trained, and prepared to deliver the absolute best care possible,” he said.
