WMBF News reports that DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A murder charge is gone, but the man accused of killing a Darlington County teenager is still behind bars.
Fourth Circuit Solicitor Mike Burch said dropping the charge in April leaves prosecutors with the option to reinstate it against Quinton McLeroy Jr.
pending further investigation by law enforcement.
The dropped charge is tied to the Oct.
10, 2023, shooting death of a 16-year-old at the Darlington-Lee Adult Education campus along Magnolia Street.
At the time, authorities believed the incident was tied to gangs and drugs.
