WMBF News reports that MARLBORO COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Pee Dee man was sentenced on Monday for murder.
Eric Jones pleaded guilty to the 2018 murder of 23-year-old Verkina Townsend on June 1.
He was sentenced to 30 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
The charge stemmed from an April 15, 2018, home invasion and shooting at a home on Wyndam Street in Bennettsville.
Townsend lived at the home with her brother and sister, who were not hurt.
She was fatally shot during the break-in.
