WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A burnout turned into a close call in the Myrtle Beach area, according to police.
A Horry County police officer was conducting traffic control on Sunday, May 25, around 3:50 a.m.
at the intersection of Highway 17 and 33rd Avenue South.
The officer saw a green Dodge Charger perform a burnout, or a tire spin, in front of a large group of people walking, nearly hitting them and other vehicles on the road, according to a police report.
The officer then tried to pull the car over, but the driver, identified as O’Mega Blake, 23, of Rock Hill, sped southbound on Highway 17 in an attempt to elude officers, the report stated.
Blake reached speeds of around 90 miles per hour during the chase before pulling into a gas station at the intersection of Highway 17 and Lake Arrowhead Road, the report stated.
