Man accused of stabbing victim multiple times during argument in Florence County

WMBF News reports that FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Florence County man is facing charges after deputies say he stabbed a victim multiple times during an argument on Friday.

Deputies with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stephen Matthews, 53, of Coward, SC, on Saturday.

Matthews was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the sheriff’s office.

These charges came after deputies responded to a call of a stabbing around 7 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said the victim was taken to another location in a personal vehicle before Florence County EMS took them to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators later arrested Matthews and alleged that he stabbed the victim multiple times during an argument.
