WMBF News reports that ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - The suspect in the discovery of a dead woman is facing additional charges.

As of Thursday morning, Anthony Ray McDonald, 37, of Lumberton has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, and assault by strangulation.

Earlier this month, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office announced that he was being charged with murder, kidnapping, larceny of a motor vehicle, arson, altering, destroying, or stealing evidence.

These charges are connected to the death of Nancy Ellen Lowry, 68, who was reported missing.

His new charges are connected to an unrelated investigation.

Investigators said they learned that McDonald had assaulted a male on June 2 on Seventh Street Road.
