(WIS) - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is set to address recent indictments regarding illegal immigration.
Wilson will hold a press conference alongside other state and federal officials at 9 a.m.
It comes after federal officials confirmed to WIS that over 100 arrests were made in a pair of South Carolina operations last month.
A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcment told WIS 114 “criminal and administrative arrests” were made from May 12-14 in “Operation Safe Drive” and “Operation Rubber Duck.” ICE said agents in “Operation Safe Drive” worked with agencies including the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the South Carolina State Transit Police and the Duncan Police Department along Interstate 26.
A spokesperson added that the operation “focused on improving road safety, enforcing immigration laws, and strengthening collaboration with local partners to protect the public.” In “Operation Rubber Duck,” ICE said agents focus on commercial driver’s licenses, those with illegal operator licenses and over-the-road truck drivers along Interstate 85 near Greer.
