WMBF News reports that (WIS) - Community leaders are set to hold a press conference Wednesday in the wake of an acquittal in the murder trial of Rick Chow.
A jury found Chow not guilty of murder in the death of Cyrus Carmack-Belton on Monday night.
The May 2023 shooting happened outside the gas station, which Chow owned at the time, after Carmack-Belton was accused of stealing a bottle of water.
Over a dozen protestors were at the gas station on Parklane Road on Tuesday, chanting and holding signs reading “Justice for Cyrus.” Protesters continued gathering Tuesday night along Parklane Road, at one point crowding an intersection.
Evidence shown during the trial showed Chow and his son chasing after Carmack-Belton over 100 yards from the store.
Chow’s defense claimed that Carmack-Belton pointed a gun at Chow’s son, causing the fatal shot to be fired.
