WMBF News reports that MARION, SC (WMBF) - A major fiber internet expansion is coming to the City of Marion.

HTC, a Conway-based cooperative and the area’s largest fiber internet provider, announced Wednesday it is expanding service into Marion with a multimillion-dollar project expected to continue through the summer.

The company said construction is already underway on a grant-funded portion of the project.

“HTC is excited to bring fiber internet to the City of Marion and provide residents and businesses a new choice in internet providers,” said HTC’s Chief Executive of Corporate Strategy, Von Todd.

HTC said the expansion is expected to bring service to most Marion residents and businesses, with speeds starting at 1 gig.

The cooperative said new customers will become members, which includes capital credits, voting rights, competitive pricing and community contributions through employee giving and volunteer work.
