WMBF News reports that CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A Conway woman woman lost thousands of dollars after a man reportedly hacked into her Amazon account, and the Identity Theft Resource Center said account takeovers are becoming more common.

Time is of the essence if you believe you’ve been hacked.

The first thing you need to do is go into your account and switch to a passkey instead of a password.

The ITRC said this is your best line of defense against hackers, with passkeys allowing you to sign in with your fingerprint, face or a PIN.

If you don’t use a passkey, make sure your password is at least 12 characters long and turn on multi-factor authentication.

Next, take a deep dive into your account settings to see what hackers did while they were inside.
