WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - As the hottest stretch of the year approaches, experts are warning that everyday items left in cars can become dangerous when temperatures rise.
Common items like eyeglasses, medications, and sunscreen can be affected by heat.
Hot temperatures can warp glasses, change how medications work, and break down sunscreen ingredients so it no longer provides protection.
Myrtle Beach Fire Captain Jonathan Evans said aerosol cans pose a particular risk.
“Water bottles because those kinds of things, the plastic itself, can seep into the water.
It’s never a good idea to leave anything inside your car this time of year for long periods of time because it can cause an incident,” Evans said.
