Horry County Schools approves new budget with pay raises

WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Schools has approved a new budget that includes pay raises for teachers and staff and does not require a tax increase, district officials said.

The Horry County Board of Education gave final approval on Monday to the superintendent’s comprehensive budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The district’s total budget is $1.2 billion.

District leaders said the General Fund totals $708,792,472 and covers salaries and benefits for 4,082 professional staff and 1,936 classified staff.

Officials said 86.3% of the operational budget is dedicated to employee compensation.

The spending plan includes compensation adjustments for all employees, including a 3% cost-of-living increase and a 1.6% longevity increase for eligible staff.
