WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Polls closed at 7 p.m.
Tuesday for the South Carolina primary election after a day of steady turnout following early morning delays at several locations.
As of 5 p.m., 31,266 people had voted on election day, bringing the total to 51,459 votes, including more than 20,000 cast during early voting.
Final turnout numbers were not immediately available.
The primary election included votes for governor, other state officials, and county school board officials.
Some voters said they voted due to the governor’s race, as the state will have the first new governor in almost 10 years.
