WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County passed the second reading of a zoning ordinance on Tuesday that would consolidate counseling facilities that distribute prescription medication onsite.

The ordinance passed with zero discussion.

It requires one more reading to go into effect.

The ordinance would place psychiatric hospitals under the same umbrella as other health facilities, according to Thomas Bell, Horry County spokesperson.

“So if it goes through the third reading at the next meeting, it will just provide a consolidation and clarity under that health care facility land use, so that everything is more held to the same standard when it comes to the land uses within the ordinances,” Bell said.

Those facilities are currently in separate land-use categories, making it harder for applicants and the county to differentiate between the requirements.
