HCSO: Motorcyclist dead after chase near Conway ends in crash

WMBF News reports that HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A chase ended with one person dead in Horry County.

According to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, at 2:10 a.m on Sunday, deputies responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 548 at Reevis Way in the Conway area.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper observed a motorcyclist traveling on Highway 501 North at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop.

The sheriff’s office said the motorcyclist failed to pull over, which resulted in a chase on Highway 501 North towards downtown Conway.

Deputies said the driver turned onto Highway 548, and died after running off the road into a ditch.
