WIS News 10 reports that (AP/WIS) — Ja Morant is headed to Portland, after the Trail Blazers and Memphis agreed on a trade Monday that sees the Grizzlies starting anew and gives the two-time All-Star a chance to revive his career, a person with knowledge of the agreement told the Associated Press on Monday.

Portland is sending Jerami Grant and Kris Murray to the Grizzlies as part of the deal, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade has not gotten the required league approvals.

Morant is a native of Sumter County, attending Crestwood High School before playing two seasons at Murray State.

His number was retired by Crestwood in 2021.

He was drafted by the Grizzlies in 2019 with the second-overall pick in that year’s NBA draft.

Morant is coming off a season that was cut short by injury after he suffered a UCL sprain in January.
