WMBF News reports that (FOX Carolina) — Grammy Award-winning singer Peabo Bryson, who performed a couple of Disney’s most beloved Oscar-winning songs, has died after previously suffering a stroke, according to a representative for Bryson.
His family announced that he passed at 5 p.m.
Bryson was born in Greenville in 1951 and became known for his R&B voice.
Bryson provided his voice to two Oscar-winning Disney songs, “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Whole New World.” He is also known for R&B classics “Feel the Fire,” “I’m So Into You,” “Can You Stop the Rain,” “If Ever You’re In My Arms Again,” ”Reaching for the Sky” and more.
His family shared the following statement after his passing: “We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world.
While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit.
