Former Pee Dee disability center employees accused of leaving vulnerable adult unsupervised

WMBF News reports that FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two people were charged Wednesday after a patient was neglected at a Florence County disability center.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged Deatrice Nichole Brown, 39, and Samuel Emanuel Hickson, 41, with neglect of a vulnerable adult.

According to an arrest warrant, Hickson was working at Pee Dee Regional Center on April 16 and was assigned to a group that included the victim.

Warrant states, Hickson left the victim outside for one hour and 27 minutes when he was supposed to check on the victim every 15 minutes.

While outside, the victim threw up and aspirated, requiring medical attention, the warrant reads.

On April 30, Brown was working at the center and was assigned to the victim.
