WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A former Myrtle Beach detective was jailed after an arrest warrant says he pointed a gun at an officer over microwaved fish.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said Michael DeBiase, 46, was charged Tuesday, after the Myrtle Beach Police Department requested an investigation.
According to a warrant, DeBaise confronted an officer at the department about them warming up fish in the microwave and causing an odor in the office.
During the confrontation, the warrant says DeBiase pulled out and pointed his department-issued handgun at the officer.
MBPD said DeBiase was placed on administrative leave immediately while investigations were conducted by the department’s Office of Professional Standards and SLED.
The department said its internal investigation identified several policy violations and that it later terminated DeBiase’s employment.
