WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A former Coastal Carolina University basketball player’s bail bondsman has been released from bond duties after raising flight risk concerns.

Former CCU star Nadjrick Peat and a former teammate were arrested in March 2026 for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman.

Each man received additional charges of criminal sexual conduct at a later date.

According to jail records, Peat was booked into J Reuben Long Detention Center on June 23 by a bond agency.

During a hearing on June 24, it was revealed that A Plus Bail Bonds, the bondsman responsible for Peat re-arrested him and, requested that they be allowed to drop Peat as a bond client.

The company’s secretary, David Lachance, testified under oath that Peat had indicated to him he intended to return to his home country of Jamaica.
