WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One of the men accused in one of Horry County’s largest stolen check investigations is admitting to a role in the two-million-dollar scheme.
Willie Perry, 25, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, pleaded guilty Monday to receiving stolen goods with a value of $10,000 or more, conspiracy, and three counts of third or subsequent offense of receiving stolen goods, George DeBusk, the senior assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, said.
A judge sentenced Perry to seven years in prison on each stolen-goods count and five years for conspiracy, all to be served concurrently or at the same time.
He faced a maximum of 10 years on the stolen-goods charges.
As part of the plea, 105 of Perry’s charges were dismissed.
“This was one of the largest stolen check investigations in Horry County,” DeBusk said.
