WMBF News reports that FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Florence is looking to amend its budget to give more money to the Florence Regional Airport and the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority.

The City of Florence passed its 2026-2027 fiscal year budget last Monday.

The original budget of $159 million included $80,000 for the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority and no funds for the Florence Regional Airport.

A special council meeting passed a first reading of an ordinance that will change that.

The new ordinance is amending the budget to include $100,000 going to the airport and $165,000 going to the PDRTA, on top of the $80,000 they already received.

Council said these funds are coming out of the city’s excess reserve balance, which is made up of 30 percent of the funding the city receives.
