WMBF News reports that — Seasonably hot weather early this week will give way to a prolonged heat wave for the July 4th weekend, with heat index values potentially reaching 105-110 degrees.

Temperatures will start in the lower to middle 70s Tuesday morning before climbing into the upper 80s to lower 90s by afternoon.

Lower humidity levels will keep the heat index below 100 and result in dry conditions for the day.

An area of high pressure will strengthen through the week, pushing a dome of heat into the Carolinas by the holiday weekend.

Temperatures will reach the low 90s along the beaches and the upper 90s to triple digits inland in the Pee Dee region.

While it remains too early to confirm specifics, some daily temperature records could be in jeopardy, particularly if inland temperatures reach the triple digits.
