FIRST ALERT: Heat and humidity build through the weekend

WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Heat and humidity return on Friday and continue to increase for a weekend heat wave.

Strong storms are likely at times this weekend.

After a brief break, temperatures and humidity begin to increase again on Friday.

Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s to near 90 at the beaches and into the lower and possibly mid 90s inland.

Combined with the humidity, the heat index will reach to around 100 in most areas.

While most areas stay dry, an isolated shower or storm will be possible inland and across the Pee Dee.
