WMBF News reports that MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - The Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge held a ceremony for Flag Day Sunday.
Flag Day, held on June 14th, recognizes and honors the adoption of the United States’ flag.
Since 1907, Elks Lodges around the country have celebrated this day through their programs.
The Murrells Inlet lodge’s ceremony began at 2 p.m., where dozens of people came out to pay tribute to the nation’s flag and how it came to be.
“It’s a great day to celebrate one nation under God,” said Jennifer Serviss, Exalted Ruler for the Murrells Inlet Elks Lodge.
During the ceremony, the those in attendance sang national songs together, were presented different versions of the American flag throughout history.
