WMBF News reports that (FOX Carolina) — The Associated Press projected Attorney General Alan Wilson as the winner of the Republican runoff for South Carolina governor Tuesday night.
The AP called the race shortly after polls closed at 7 p.m.
With about 10 percent of the estimated vote reporting at the time of the call, Wilson led with 65.5 percent.
Jermaine Johnson joined FOX Carolina live after the projection and said Wilson’s win “doesn’t change anything” about his campaign heading into November.
Johnson said his focus remains on what he described as key issues facing South Carolina, including infrastructure, health care and education.
He also addressed the tone of the GOP runoff, which included personal attacks between the candidates, and said he plans to keep his campaign focused on the issues.
