WMBF News reports that GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Georgetown County deputies are looking for a man wanted on multiple warrants out of Florence County.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina DNR Officers are searching for Charles Murphy, 53 years old, of Scranton, near Pringle Ferry Landing.
Deputies say Murphy ran from a traffic stop on Highway 701 near Walmart on Tuesday when they tried to take him into custody.
According to the GCSO, Murphy and his companion, Krystal Johnson, broke away after a scuffle.
Deputies say the two then led officers on a high-speed chase down Highway 701.
The chase ended at Pringle Ferry Landing, where deputies say Murphy and Johnson abandoned their BMW and jumped into the water.
