WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Darlington County School District leaders shared an update on environmental testing at Black Creek Elementary School.
State and federal agencies have completed the testing and determined the findings do not present a risk to students or staff and that no immediate action is required, according to the district.
According to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, testing did not identify metals, polychlorinated biphenyls or pesticides at levels of concern.
The agencies also determined that the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances detected do not present a risk to students or staff.
Officials said the testing began after the district and agencies learned the school property had previously been used as farmland that received biosolids from the former Galey & Lord facility.
