WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Darlington County School District Board of Education has approved its budget for the upcoming school year.
The district said the board unanimously passed a $138 million Fiscal Year 2027 budget during its June 8 meeting.
District leaders said the budget is built around four priorities: student success, teacher support, workforce development and stewardship.
DCSD said the plan includes the highest starting teacher salary in the Pee Dee at $51,500, a $1,000 increase to every step on the teacher salary schedule, an average 4.5% raise for classified employees, and a districtwide minimum wage of at least $15 per hour.
“Student success starts with great people,” DCSD Superintendent Dr.
“This budget invests in the teachers, staff, and support systems that help our students learn, grow, and prepare for what comes next.” The district said the budget also continues teacher attendance incentive awards.
