WMBF News reports that FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Crews responded to a landfill fire in Florence County on Thursday night.
Florence County Fire Rescue responded to the 2000 block of North Irby Street near TV Road at around 6:21 p.m.
Crews observed a large column of black smoke coming from the area of the landfill located on West Legs Circle.
Upon arrival, crews found a large fire burning within the landfill and initiated suppression operations while also establishing a water supply due to the location and size of the fire.
Firefighters remain on scene working to contain and extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
