Convicted Ohio sex offender worked at Myrtle Beach Subway with teens before string of arrests

WMBF News reports that MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A convicted sex offender served time in Ohio, then moved to Myrtle Beach and got a job working with teenagers.

Michael Aber is a convicted felon and registered sex offender who pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor in Ohio in 2021.

He spent a year in prison and moved to Myrtle Beach in 2022, where he worked at a Subway on Dick Pond Road in Socastee.

According to a police report, Aber allegedly grabbed his 15-year-old co-worker’s hips and asked her if she was a virgin.

The teen’s father, Tom Balcuinas, said his daughter was punished and later fired after requesting not to work with Aber because she felt uncomfortable.

Balcuinas shared a text message with WMBF News where the Subway manager said, “We run a business, not a daycare.
