WMBF News reports that CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Coastal Carolina has a new coach set to lead its pitching staff.
CCU baseball announced Thursday it is hiring Josh Hopper as pitching coach, bringing in more than two decades of experience to help rebuild a staff gutted by departures to South Carolina.
Hopper replaces Matt Williams, who is following former head coach Kevin Schnall to Columbia along with several other CCU assistants.
Schnall led CCU to a 56-win season and the College World Series finals in 2025 before leaving for South Carolina on a five-year, roughly $7 million deal after the 2026 season.
He earned Baseball America’s College Coach of the Year honors that season, the first first-year head coach to win the award.
Williams was a key part of that run.
