WMBF News reports that FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Cheney Brothers opened its first South Carolina facility in Florence, marking the Florida-based food distributor’s expansion into the state.
The company cut the ribbon on the new location in the Pee Dee City East Industrial Park.
The facility will employ more than 600 people when fully staffed, according to CEO Byron Russell.
Cheney Brothers supplies food products across the Southeast.
Florence County Council Chairman Jerry Yarborough said the facility will create economic opportunities.
“This is an enhancement because they’ll have to have vendors support them,” Yarborough said.
